Moveable Feasts: Katie Grinnan
AOC Wine Bar and Restaurant
August 5, 2012
LAND’s Board of Directors and LAND’s Director and Curator, Shamim M. Momin, request the pleasure of your attendance at Moveable Feasts: LAND’s intimate dinner series. As an extension of LAND programming, Moveable Feasts offer invitees the opportunity to partake in specially selected menus from the city’s top chefs and restaurants with invited artists and other creatively-minded individuals.
This Moveable Feast honored Los Angeles-based artist Katie Grinnan. Grinnan is a multimedia artist who investigates the intersection between information technology and one’s subjective interpretation of reality through structures and logic systems, which, in combination, impart meaning to specific sites.
A 2012-2013 LAND exhibition and performance centered around Grinnan’s Astrology Orchestra, which uses astrological systems to map out the artist’s birth chart from the perspective of the planets in the solar system. This serves as a template for the creation of interactive stringed instruments, each representing a planetary perspective.
The cost for the evening was $150 per person for LAND Members and $175 per person for non-members, which included a three-course dinner with wine and a special, artist-designed object. Half of the ticket cost went directly to support LAND’s programming and is fully tax-deductible.
