In the midst of a timely heatwave, the @compassrose.space team trekked out to visit @csun_sanborn, a beautifully kept archive of maps created by The Sanborn Map Company from between the 1880s to 1970 and used by fire insurance companies to assess "liability." These volumes of enormous and seemingly hand painted and annotated lithographs not so subtly document the unfolding nativism sewn into the expansion of infrastructure over the 20th century. Thank you @debrascaccostudio and @csun_sanborn for sharing the archive with us!

After 2 years of programming both initially in-person and inevitably online, we are excited to announce the launch of @oscartuazon's website for Water School, waterschool.info

An archive of conversations, activism, and visibility, the site is diversely functional as a tool for public pedagogy.

We are reminded of how little the ongoing threats against water and its staunch defenders and allies slowed or became any less palpable during the course of a year that was otherwise stalled living normally.

Please take a moment to explore the site and learn about the important work of water defenders and their allies, moderated by Oscar Tuazon.
