This week we will be announcing 2 very special projects happening as part of @werisela Art Rise next month.

One is a collaboration between @iristheempress @meganmichelledorame and @julia_bogany.

Julia was an educator, cultural advisor, and Tongva Elder who passed away last month. We share this post via @lamagbarnsdall:

Through generous story sharing and an unwavering commitment, Bogany was a leader in the increase of knowledge and support of Tongva language and cultural practice.

Artist iris yirei hu developed a deep relationship with Bogany, whose familial and generational experiences were woven in the work pictured here, "Lessons from Wise Woman (Tongva Elder Julia Bogany)" featured in the 2018 exhibition “Here.”

Bogany's legacy will continue to live in this and the many artworks and people she touched.
